Meet Our Team!

Kevin Painchaud
Founder & Owner
As a proud Hokie, I live by our motto, Ut Prosim — “That I May Serve.”

After earning my Master’s Degree in Natural Resources (MNR) from Virginia Tech, I knew I wanted to give back to my community in a meaningful way. That vision led to the creation of Verdant Valley, a landscaping company built on quality, care, and service.

Landscaping has been a passion of mine since the age of 13, when I began working part-time during the summers. Over the years, that passion grew into a lifelong dream. At Virginia Tech, I worked hard to bring that dream to life — designing the 2025 class ring as part of the class office, holding leadership roles in multiple university organizations, earning recognition as a John Deere Scholar, and completing two agriculture-related degrees — all by the age of 22.

Verdant Valley is the culmination of years of dedication, education, and hands-on experience. My mission is simple: to serve the community with exceptional landscaping that reflects the same commitment and pride I’ve carried throughout my journey.

Reese Grindstaff
Landscape Design Specialist
My name is Reese and I'm a landscape designer. Though I live in Utah now, I have lived all over the US (including Illinois, Washington State, and Texas) and have seen even more of it through travel. I have always been passionate about creating beautiful things—growing up in a gardening family will do that to you—and I love to work with people to design outdoor spaces they can appreciate for years to come. I studied Landscape Design while at BYU and have taken on several residential projects since graduating. In my free time I'm a gardener, a lover of baked goods, and a writer!

Ty Dahl
Landscape Design-Build Specialist
I’m a landscape designer and current senior at Brigham Young University in Utah, originally from Knoxville, Tennessee (go VOLS). Growing up surrounded by the beauty of the Southern Appalachians sparked my connection to the natural world and continues to shape how I design today. I believe the best landscapes are those that feel like they belong, reflecting the quiet beauty and complexity of nature while remaining functional and deeply enjoyable to live in.
From Rocky Top to Shenandoah and out to the Rockies, I’ve had the opportunity to design and build across a range of landscapes, gaining hands-on experience with native ecology, soils, and seasonal rhythms. My work blends creativity, practicality, and an ecological mindset to create spaces that feel both grounded and inspiring—whether it’s a backyard for gathering, a garden for reflection, or a nature-inspired escape that grows
Ashlyn Brown
Landscape Designer
My name is Ashlyn, and I'm a landscape designer from BYU, Utah. My design journey has taken me from the mountain west to the lush landscapes of Virginia, where I completed some beautiful design jobs and fell in love with the diverse plant palette of the East Coast.
I enjoy sharing the design process with others. I find deep satisfaction in leveraging the natural constraints of a space, choosing plants that will thrive, and working closely with clients to shape an outdoor space that is not only beautiful, but functional for their daily life.
When I'm not designing, I’m likely trying a new cookie recipe, flipping through my books, or hiking around for inspiration on my next design.
